7. Managing Email Protection Outbound Policy
7.1. Policy Configuration Overview
The McAfee Email Protection Service will perform actions on messages sent from the outbound mail
server, based on rules identified in your Outbound Email Filtering Policy.
If you subscribe to Outbound Email filtering service, the Policy Sets consist of various filtering
options:
Virus
Content
Attachments
Enforced TLS
Notifications
7.1.1. Default Outbound Policy Set
As a group administrator, you can subscribe a group you own to the Default Policy; however you
cannot edit any policy actions.
7.2. Virus
The Virus filtering option allows the Administrator to configure how the system will react if an
outbound email message contains a virus.
You can also determine what should happen to the message if it cannot be cleaned.
Note: If an email message is detected that contains a widespread worm or virus, the system may
automatically deny the email and override any Virus policy settings.
When an attachment containing a virus is stripped by the policy, the attachment is replaced with a
text message, which lists the stripped virus.
The Virus default setting is set to clean the message. If the message cannot be cleaned, the
message is denied.
